ICELAND

As with several previous projects by Bartoli Design for Segis, Iceland is a perfect expression of furniture design for public and semi-public places, developed according to the needs of busy spaces, where it is important for furniture to be singular identifying items as well. Hence the iconic design of this two-sided large bench, equipped with trapezoidal backtrests which seem to float as icebergs.  The legs and seating top are made of a technological sandwich in which a thin lacquered aluminium plate wraps a composite of bearing and lightweighted materials. The backrests, in seven different shapes, are padded and proposed upholstered in a water- and dirt-repellent cover, in addition to high-performance fabrics. Finishes and colours refer to the world of nature in its powerful elements: ice, snow, dusts, rocks, lava, soils and undergrowth – elements reminding also of the harshest nature and primeval force of the Icelandic landscapes.
