Project Description

GAIA

Designed in 1966 and launched by Arflex in 1967, Gaia is a fibreglass and polyester resin armchair which was personally seen by Carlo Bartoli through a long and laborious development phase with the help of models he built himself.
The shape, which guarantees a perfect load-spread throughout the plastic surface, is extremly comfortable, even without the small amount of padding added to pander to commercial considerations.

Gaia is one of the most significant pieces of the Sixties; in fact, since 1969 it has been included in the renowned “Moma”, the New York Museum of Modern Art, and, since 2002 it is part of the design collection of the Triennale, Milano.
